Hometown girl at the Bay Street Grille
Tuesday was all about prep for the gig at the Bay Street Grille. The gals stayed at the cabin while the guys were installed at the Woahink Lake Suites –
affectionately referred to as the local “Bates Motel.” Andrea and Taya took the early morning boat shuttle to retrieve Dan and Jim and took a little spin around the lake in the process. Andrea’s boating skills are superb and she glides around the lake like it’s been her playground her entire life..which it has!Dan produced delicious French toast and bacon for breakfast and after that hearty repaste, the group got down to business rehearsing their songs and developing their playlist for the night. I can hardly believe I get to spend the entire week listening to them play…
And, we get to back and unpack a squillion times! It's a good thing, cuz we need something to work off all the good and abundant food we've been consuming! At this stop, we had Juliette parked in front of Andrea's family's 800 sq ft cabin. It was amazing how 7 people managed to hang out in that space so productively and comfortably. It was ingeniously
designed by Andrea's mom and optimizes the use of space phenomenally well. The Bay Street Grille is a sweet little bar and restaurant on the main street in the historic waterfront area of Florence. Florence, Andrea tells me, has been around longer than Seattle. The setup went smoothly and then we all had a great meal together.
Andrea’s parents and some friends came for
the occasion and the establishment had a healthy crowd all evening. For a first gig playing for people who don’t know them, the band totally rocked. I can’t imagine how good they’re going to sound by the end of this week! Two sets, the first a little more mellow than the second which was rockin’ in a good way. A few people inspired
to get moving on the dance floor and an appreciative crowd, calling for “more!” when they were done and the band obliged, playing a tune Andrea wrote called
Chevy Memories. A great night, a fun beginning to this circuit of one-night only gigs. From here on out it’s every night, and then some! Tomorrow, off to Smith River, and good ‘ol California.
